e-pública (http://e-publica.unizar.es/es/pagina-inicio) is an exclusively electronic journal that publishes works related to the educational aspect of the economic analysis of public sector intervention in economic activity: public revenue and expenditure, public management, public choice, fiscal federalism, fiscal policy, regulation, etcetera.
In this sense, Artificial Intelligence (AI) models have significantly burst into the different spheres of our daily lives. In fact, this impact is expected to become more intense and comprehensive in the coming years.
The field of university teaching, in general, and that of the public economy, in particular, will certainly be no exception, so we consider it necessary to study and analyse its possible uses so that we can identify how to maximize its benefits for the educational community (students, teachers and educational managers), while minimizing or avoiding the associated risks.
e-pública, in collaboration with the Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI-UCM) (https://www.ucm.es/icei/), wants to collect teaching experiences related to the use of AI in the classroom that are being carried out in the university community, and are related to the field of public economics in a broad sense. To this end, e-pública will dedicate a special issue to collect these teaching experiences.
Papers from lecturers from Universities or teaching centers from all over the European Union are especially welcome, since, if the papers could reflect the unique features of each EU member state, the result will be more enriching. Likewise, the teaching experiences can be framed in any educational level in which topics related to Public Economics play a relevant role. Thus, although the main focus is on university levels (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees), there is also room for teaching experiences at the sixth-form level or in advanced vocational training where Economics is part of the curriculum.
Those interested in publishing their papers in the monograph should send their papers electronically to epublica@unizar.es before 20 February 2025, indicating in the message that the submission corresponds to the call for papers IA-Docencia. Papers may be written in Spanish or English. In the initial submission it is not necessary to adjust the format of the paper to the journal’s standards. The final formatting will be required only for papers accepted for publication.
This special issue will be edited by the journal’s executive editors, Francisco Javier Capó, Amelia Díaz, and Antonio Jesús Sánchez Fuentes. All papers submitted will undergo the usual peer review process. The expected publication date will be September 2025.
Finally, as a preparatory activity, we have planned a Workshop where a selection of the papers received will be presented, scheduled for March 2025, and to be held at the Somosaguas Campus of the Complutense University of Madrid (Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid), at the headquarters of the Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI-UCM).
