In September 2015, 193 economies committed to the compliance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 with the aim of promoting equality, improving the planet sustainability and achieving sustainable development. Given the crucial relevance of the issue, the main objective of the authors of this book is to provide the most recent approaches about economic policies that could contribute to achieve sustainable economic development. This particular book focuses on analysing the current situation and it offers the main theories and policies of economic development. In addition, it studies the scope of policies from both the demand and the supply side in order to obtain economic development. They highlight the effort made by the European Union (EU) to move towards sustainable development in terms of employment, poverty, firms, productive sectors, analyzing also the indirect effects in other regions. And finally, it provides several examples from Latin America and the Caribbean on instruments and tools that are relevant in the educational field, the labour market, productive sectors, among others, in order to explore the role of development policies concretely in developing countries. Given the clarity in the exposition, this particular book is not only of interest to economic policymakers and researchers, but also it becomes a very useful tool for educational purposes.
